CAGED, 2NPS and 3NPS explained

The fingering systems Fretly draws, and when to use each.

Fretly can show the same scale through several fingering systems. The notes never change — only the pattern your hand follows.

  • CAGED — five shapes built around the C, A, G, E, D chord forms. Great for

linking scales to the chords you already know.

  • 2NPS / 3NPS / 4NPS — two, three, or four notes per string. Even and

predictable; ideal for smooth position shifts and speed.

  • Arpeggio — just the chord tones of the related chord.

Switch systems from the control panel and the diagram redraws instantly.
